I wa just wondering what is a good start on mods, i was thinking about droping a 350 in there for awhile but i dont want to deal with all the crap that goes with it cause i wont have time to wait around with no car while its being droped in so im just wondering if anyone knows of some decent mods that are cost affective... Your story sounds similar to mine. Bought my first car in 2001 when I was 15 years old and working at McDonalds. It was the 92' Camaro RS w/ 3.1 and 700-R4. T Tops and rare purple paint (some like it some hate it, me I forget about it). Anyway, with a year and a half to go before taking it to the road because of my license, I decided to do some modifications. I put a stereo in it, DONT HACK UP YOUR HARNESSES LIKE I DID, and I put a flowmaster 80 series muffler on it. Sounds really nice and I think it might have given me some extra horse power. I have added the 16" Anniversary rims to give the car a better look. Get an air intake system, because that stock little hole the size of a quarter cannot be good for an air intake. Also, see if you can modify your ignition system (an Accel coil + 8 mm wires), as well as a distributor cap + rotor change (any brand will do). Check all of your fluids, make sure your anti freeze is still green and not rusted like mine once was, and make sure ur trans fluid is still red. Might be a good idea to service that if you do not know when it was changed last. My car had 64k when I bought it, now has 73k. It has its good days and its bad days, now it runs like a champ for some reason, just take care of it and it will take care of you, good luck with your car.

If you just bought your car, the absolute first "mod" you should do is a major tuneup- no questions asked. Should cost about $100, depending on how much you want to spend for aftermarket stuff like plug wires and air filters.

After that, when the motor's running at it's best again (which it might not have been for years!), then you should go into the bolt-on's like exhaust and intake and etc. No sense putting an exhaust on if your motor's out of tune!
