emptying tank
emptying tank
I found that I had bad gas in my car. I siphoned most of it out but the guage still reads about 1/10 full. I have been turning ignition key to on position draining primer gas into canister, but this takes forever.
How do I keep the pump pumping?
Thanks,
Adam

You can jump the "g" terminal on the ALDL, which will cause the fuel pump to run constantly. 1/10 of a tank actually wouldn't hurt you too much, just fill it up with good gas, and the rest should dilute fine.

Re: emptying tank
I know this is an old post.
I have a 90 with TPI and want to empty the tank .
I should put 12 volts to the G terminal, jumping it from the battery?
I know the fuel lines by the steering shaft, which one comes out of the pump?
I also have the "Air Bag" light on,where would I find info on how to trouble shoot that?
Thanks
Tom

Remove the fuel pump relay and jump the orange wire to the gray one.
The bigger fuel line comes from the pump. The return is always smaller.
For the SIR, look in the Electronics section.
Re: emptying tank
Oh , and , one other thing ; No matter how you "hotwire" the fuel pump , make darned sure your right there to cut power to it once the tank empties of fuel . The pump won't like it at all if it's allowed to run out of fuel and keep spinning dry for any great length of time .
