Cooling fan switch?????

I have a 92 camaro V-6 which has a problem with getting hot. The cooling fan comes on itermittently. I have replaced the coolant temp. sensor. I am trying to replace the cooling fan switch on the firewall. The problem is that there are two switches side by side facing the front of the car and one switch facing inward toward the engine. Which one is it - Passengers side, Center or Drivers side?

Thanks,

JP

switch I assume you mean relay??

I have 3 relays on the drivers side of the car. Fan is the middle one on mine (91)

It will also have a fat ol red wire going to it.

Where are these switches? I didn't think the 3.1's had a fan switch. 2.8's fan switch is in the rear outer corner of the passenger side's head. 2.8's "idiot light switch" or "full gauges sensor" is in the front outer corner of the driver's side head (behind the a/c compressor bracket).

Thanks for the help guys. The "switch" is a relay, I am sorry for the confusion. I have replaced the center relay which had the large red wire. The relays were located just inside the drivers side under the hood attached to the firewall.

I ran the car ant the fan seemed to work ... I will need a hot day. The top radiator hose got hot while the bottom one stayed cool....could I have a thermostat problem? The hottest the car got tonight was 200. Am I just neurotic?

Thanks for the advice

JP

At what point should I get worried? About 220 or 230?

Thanks!

Your stock fan doesnt come on tell 220. So in gm's mind, thats fine. I would say 220-230 I would start to be worried.

I hot wired my fan to a toggle switch under the lights ****...225* was too hot for me...once it goes over 200*, I hit the switch, back to 190* in minutes...

MVFTW,

How hard is it to put a toggle switch in for the fan? Can you give me the steps? Or is it easier to get a hypertech ... ( I forget what) that kicks it on earlier?
