Service engine light not coming on...
Ok, was driving on the highway and my car died on me. When it died I had white steam coming from the throttle body. I took it to a gas station and noticed when I put the key on "on" my service engine light does not come on, just the INFL REST light blinks. The car cranks and the motor starts but stops immediately. I have a feeling my fuel pump is not coming on. Now my question is what is causing the Service Engine Light to not come on and why isn't my fuel pump coming on? Did the computer get fried? Does the ECM control the fuel pump? Please help. Thanks.

Possibly a burnt out bulb or a bad contact on the gauge cluster. I may not be correct but i'll shot,
As far as I know the computer does not control the fuel pump. When the key is turned it gets ingaged and vise versa. Low oil pressure/ or oil will cause the saftey switch to kick and that will shut off you car automatically. I know that one for sure, its happened to me twice. Can you give it gas/more throttle to keep it going??? If so it could be what I just mentioned.

First, replace the bulb for the SES light (service engine soon)
See if it comes back on. Then check for codes.

The ecm doesn't control the fuel pump, but it does control the injectors.
Make sure that your ECM/fuel pump fuse isn't blown; it's under the hood, on the passenger side upper main frame rail, near the front of the engine compartment. It'll be held to the frame rail with a single 7mm (or 9/32) bolt. Pop the clip to remove the fuse holder, and check the fuse out.
