3.4L (X) oil leak (56K warning.. pics!)

This isn't a firebird/T/A or Camaro, but the 3.4L was used in them, wasn't it??

I'm replacing my intake manifold gaskets because I seem to be pulling some air in.. I also have a nasty oil leak that is ****ing up the driveway

I took the upper (plenum) and lower intake manifolds off. BTW, this is a GM 3.4L (X) engine...

There seems to be some oil staining on the underside of the lower manifold..

here is the valley of the engine:

right below the top cylinder head, there is a dark spot.. it is a pool of oil, about 5-6mm deep!

also notice the second (square) port on the top head.. now look again at the intake manifold.. the mani. doesn't have an opening for this port.. GM, what are you thinking?!

I took off the PVC thingy in the center of the second pic. I believe this may be where the oil is coming from...

There is a check valve (large circular opening, left side of PCV with black disk in center) and it appears oil enters it and then flows across the top raised pipe thingy (sorry for the technical terms ) and flows back down into the engine. This is a live oil feed, my freshly changed oil came out of it..

Here is the mating surface + gasket for the PCV thingy

I cleaned.. no, mopped up the oil before taking this thing off..

Do any of you think this PCV thing is the source of the oil leak?? The only other way oil can get to this spot is by the headgasket.. but I don't think oil traverses thru the HG, does it??

My car doesn't smoke at all.. it is however running lean. My plugs are glazed white..

Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions?

That's the EGR passageway; on older cars, the EGR was on the intake manifold. Exhaust gases came from the #3 and #4 cylinders, through that port into the head, thru the intake manifold, and came to an EGR.

Later model fuel injection places the EGR on the exhaust manifold, so the ports are no longer used; that's why they're blocked off on the intake manifold.

Can't help as regards the oil leak though...
