sends more spark through your ignition system
ex. i would launch my car without it and could go when the second yellow started to lite up....installed the msd 5a box and red lited going then had to wait for the second yellow to be all the way lit...
i never got to run the car at the track with the blaster II coil but i ran my freinds 97 3.8 and instead of her passing me at the top end of first and leaving me...i stayed out in front till the top end of second till she passed then i sat on her rear bumper....dunno if i would have passed her again cuz we ran out of street

I'm still confused about this...
When I look up the blaster 2 coil it brings up a cylindrical thing as the coil, isn't our coil like a short kinda round thing?
So how would you hook it up?
and
Where does the MSD 5, since thats what I'm assuming you have cuz I can't find a MSD 5a anywhere, go and how does that hook up?
Maybe pictures could help?

yes its 5 my bad i dunno why i put a maybe i was thinking 6a when i typed it
damien i think your thiking its a new distributor, thats what i thought at first....follow the center spark plug wire over to the igniition coil.....mines mounted on the if your looking at the enigne your left side of the block

i dunno how the msd 5 installs i had somebody install it for me and he just tinkered with it till the car actually started, the rpms fly when you rev it after it was installed
ill get picks up when i get back from work

An MSD box wires into the coil connector for our cars. Think of an MSD box & MSD coil as one big factory coil.
You can also wire a blaster 2 coil (two wire coil) into our 4-wire coil connector. If you do a search on the v6 forum for "Blaster" by "TomP" in the "V6 Forum", you'll find my messages where I tell exactly how to wire one up.

Are the Blaster Coil and the MSD 6A box something you would do together or one or the other or which one first? I'm curious....

There's what I found!
Keith, it's easy. It requires some splicing, but here's the quick overview. The four connectors on the GM coil are really a "bridge" to each other. The GM coil is basically two parts- a two-terminal spark coil, and a "2-to-4 connector". For instance; wire "A" on the gray connector gets connected to wire "B" from the black connector- inside the coil. Inside the coil, "gray-B" ties to "black-B".
1. Cut off the factory coil connectors (leave an inch or two in case you ever want to hook them back up) from the car's wiring.
2. Mount the new coil so it's within reach of your distributor cap. I think the MSD Blaster 3 needs to be mounted upright, right?
3. Cut yourself two lengths of wire, about 18 or 20 gauge, that will reach from the car's wiring to the location you want your new coil to be in. I'm going to call these your "MSD wires"...
4. Strip 1/2" insulation off the four wires from the car's harness, and off the ends of the MSD wires.
5. Attach the PINK/BLACK wire of the GRAY connector to the PINK/BLACK of the BLACK connector. Attach one of the MSD wires to this hookup... make them look like a "Y". Use correct methods (crimping or soldering, with heat-shrink or electrical tape).
6. Attach the BLACK/WHITE of the GRAY connector to the BLACK of the black connector. Attach the other MSD wire to this hookup. ** Note: This is where you would connect an aftermarket tachometer!
7. Take the MSD wire you connected to the PINK/BLACK wires. This goes to the POSITIVE terminal on the MSD coil.
8. The MSD wire you connected to the BLACK/WHITE & BLACK wires will go to the NEGATIVE side of the coil.
9. Let us know how it goes.

I lost track of things with the headers post and the turbo thing going on, and then I thought that I still needed to find out this information.

Well I headed over to MSD's website and I found a product that is called the Blaster GM Coil . I'm assuming this goes right in place of where the stock coil is currently.
The thing that also drew me away from the MSD-8202 was that it looked big (see picture)and I have no clue where to mount it with my A/C and such in the way. Also the MSD Blaster GM Coil looks more bolt-on.

Attached is my stock coil, correct me if I am wrong and that I could mount the 8202 in it's place....?

The 8226 is direct replacement.
That 8202 is a different charicter, and would require some major wiring, and mounting brackets made.

So then do the 8226 and 8202 have the same spark specifications? I can't seem to find it on their website.

Dale, I didn't think the wiring that I posted (which WWasem dug up and quoted above) was major!
And you can buy a bracket to hold the actual coil; any additional bracket to hold the special coil bracket to the car might have to be made; but hey, that's what Home Depot's hardware aisle (steel strip stock), a hammer, a vice, primer, and semi gloss black spray cans are for!
But it is a pain to mount a coil... look what I had to do below. Benefit is that I left my original coil in; if I die on the side of the road and suspect my ignition, i can plug the original GM coil back in and see what happens.
