Nope, not between 2.8's. 3.1 IAC's attached differently to the throttle body. You should be all set.

Tom, Do you know if the top TB plate on the 3.1 will interchange with the 2.8 TB's. I am interested to see if there is more clearance with the IAC with the 3.1 upper TB plate on my new plenium design? Basically, do you know if it sticks up or out at a different angle than the 2.8 IAC?

Thanks, Dean

Here's a pic showing where I have grinded too much and had to build back the area with weld beads

AGood2.8, the 3.1l TB IAC comes straight out toward the passenger side. It is on top of the TB with the TPS directly below it. The IAC is a different design as it has a flanged mount with two screws to fasten it to the TB.

I can post a pic of the factory diagram if it helps.

RBob.

Thanks Rob for the info. I have an aquintance that has a 3.1 Camaro that I can check out in person (thankyou for the picture offer- but no need) I have seen his engine before, but never realized that the IAC was different when I glanced at it years back.

I"ll check that out, see if it will work better.

Yeah, sorry, I don't know much about the 3.1's... never seen one in person, -or- in a junkyard. I'd think that the 3.1 might integrate into your design better since it would only require drilling/tapping two small mounting holes and drilling a center hole. It might "intrude" less into the throttle body.

And I'm sure you might even be able to somehow weld up studs that stuck out of the TB's side instead of drilling holes to insert screws for.
