Son of a bitch!

After spraying the living **** out of the fuel line/fuel filter housing area with WD-40, I finally got it to turn. Unfortunantly, I was working on the car at 3:30 in the morning, so I wasnt paying attention to that little line that connects to the FF housing. It had twisted in two!

So, where can I buy a new fuel line for this thing at? Engine is a 2.8 with the good ole' Varijet carb.

Hm, wow. Sorry to hear that. I always wondered if that could happen. Well, I would first off probably check with your local GM dealer, a junk yard for a similar car for the line, or check out http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/partsvoice/frameset.cfm
Those guys tend to have a lot of stuff.

Probably what I would end up doing is finding a donar car in a yard with a pipe intact for your cars specs.

Bleh, good luck with that.

Alright, I figured out what i'm gonna do. Instead of replacing the whole line i'm just gonna go get a fitting that will screw into the fuel filter holder and allow me to place a hose onto it, then clamp the other end of the hose onto the good part of the existing line.

Good thing i'm chroming my air cleaner tomorrow...Else this would look like ****.

When I bought my firebird, it had a pinhole leak in the fuel line where it sits on the frame... it started to drip considerably, so I took some rubber fuel line, sliced it lengthwise and hose clamped it on either end of the leak... worked wonders... totally eliminated my fuel smell too.

Sounds like you've got a good plan, good luck.

Don't panic.

I did the same thing. At autozone they have the filter on the racks, next to the one for our car, is the same size and type of big silver filter but with nippled ends.

8-12 inches of steel braided fuel/tranny/oil line and using double clamps on each end. 8 clamps total. I have never even looked back. It is actually easier to change it often and when I had a problem I was able to stick a inline pump there for a test real easy.

You could always get one of those clear fuel filters for that carb...

[edit] I went shopping for you! Summitracing.com , under "catalog" then under "Air/fuel" and Fuel Filters. Hose stuff was under "catalog" then "hose"

The clear ones:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=RUS%2D645390
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=RUS%2D645470
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=RUS%2D645480

Here's a funky one: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=EDL%2D8873

Ooh, these are cool, too: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=EAR%2D230206

So then you'd need some -6AN hose and fittings

Two adapter fittings (pump outlet and carb inlet): http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=AER%2DFCE2005 Note: Make sure of the pipe thread before you order the adapters... I'm only guessing at the 3/8" NPT...

-6AN Hose: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=RUS%2D632050

-6AN straight fitting for "empty" carb filter housing: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=RUS%2D610020

-6AN angled fitting for fuel pump outlet: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=RUS%2D610090

Comes out to $52, I guess? But man, the coolness factor goes way up! I think with the first filter I listed, it has regular nipple ends, so you'd just need a length of fuel hose and some clamps, and an NPT-to-nipple adapter from your local parts store.

Ya know I also had a sheet of magnet from and old car door sign and I made a cover/wrap for the fuel filter. Have no idea if it helps but figure it would help hold any heavy metals on the filter sides and not pluging up the filter media.
