just a pointer, if you make a thread in the transmission forum, do not tell them it is a V6 tranny, they wont answer your question for some reason.
Anyways, a shift kit will make it shift ALOT sooner, like neck breaking bone snapping type of sooner.
I got the B&M Shift Improver, while not being a "true" shiftkit, it certainly does improve shifts. It was pretty easy to install and its not rocket science. It has 2 different settings, "RV and Towing" or "Street/Strip"
If you want really hard and fast shifts, follow the Street/Strip directions, if you want mild yet firm shifts, go with the RV and Towing instructions.
The kit is also really cheap, IIRC i only paid like 30$ for mine.

How does that install?? What kinda tools, etc.
Shifting from 3rd to 4th around 4700 on mild to hard accelleration.
2nd to 3rd around 3800-3900 which is where I expect shift point.

the kit i got only required a socket wrech with 1/2" socket IIRC and a "C-Clip" remover, although one is not needed, it made the C-Clip part much easier. You will also need a drill to drill some holes in the seperator plate with the included drill bits.
Basically all you do is drop the transmission pan, remove about 20 bolts from the valve body and then remove the lower section of the valve body.
Drill some holes in the seperator plate, replace some springs, etc. Put it all back together and presto, firmer quicker shifts, and alot less slipage.
When putting the valve body back on, you will probably need another person since its pretty damn heavy, and you need to keep it perfectly level. Much easier with 2 people for that part.

can't remember who it was or exactly why (might wanna search it dale) but it seems that i remember people complaining about the B&M kit a while back, but like i said i can't remember why. There was a big debate a couple years ago (probably well before he boards were switched over, and the data might have been lost) but the thread covered the tranny upgrades, and basically helped me when i was getting my tranny rebuilt...mines got a transgo kit in it amongst other things, but from what i was told, the kit firmed the shifts but didn't make the big difference, it was the vette servo and the boost valve that really makes the neck snap and the tire(s) squeel into second. but of course i can't confirm that, since when i got the car back it was shifting firm as hell, and it's not like i made one mod, and then decided to do another, was a complete package....plus i have no clue on install stuff LOL...tranies scare me, i'll bolt em up, and fill em w/ fluid, maybe change the filter, but the hell if i'm gonna start digging on the inside of one.

Yea, other then changing filter and fluid, I dont like messing with them either.
I was hoping it was something I could do from outside. But doesnt sound like it. Hope someone I know has done one of these before.
