my suggestion would be get a 350 first and don't mess with the 305. you'll be much happier.

It'll be impossible to complete that swap with your Silverado. A 3rdgen parts car with a good running V-8 is a much better choice. I'll be doing the swap into my 4-cyl Camaro soon.

It's easy to sink an engine under a hood if the parts are right.
YET
with your F Body platform, its' not a wise move.
Why?
Not much will easily interchange at all.
You've got all electronics engine bay going backwards to a carb set up
IF your 3rd Gen was a 82-84 V6 it's be a slam dunk, that drivetrain was a carb with very few electonics.
Your choice?
Sell everything and buy a great already runing V8 3rd gen. That would be a way easier alternative.
With current idea down time would be the long road.
Performance & 305 are not the same words.
Get a 350 powered ride & work forward.

I agree with the other guys about just getting at least a 350 from a camaro parts car, however if you really want to do the 305 thing (which I don't see why you would) maybe this can give you some ideas.

Keep in mind, for similar parts, coming out to the same price you could be making 400+ hp from a 350 block. I have a family member trying to make plans to build a 305, but I'm trying hard as I can to stop him
