im thinking about swapping my old 2.8 into a '84 2.8 carb i just baught. Would it work and what kind of things would i need to do to get it to work correctly besides computer.

 

are you just swapping long blocks here or are you trying to change to EFI from carb, or vice versa?

 

Working with a 2.8 is such a waste of time.
Go find a 3.4 for cheap & insert.
Same sized engine & all fits perfectly from donor 2.8 vehicle.
I know as I've done this twice.
Best engine choice for for your carb'd engine bay would be a V8 swap & running a carb
