i have a 3.1 and i live in the city of Pittsburgh so im in alot of stop and go traffic with alot of stop signs and red light not to mention a ton of hills and i consistently get 18mpg so i would guess that 20mpg for a 2.8 is right
My car gets crazy deadly gas milage. If i'm converting to standard right i'm getting 27mpg bagged hard. My car was on fumes (stalling around corners) and I put in $30 of gas at 85.9 cents a litre (34.9L) 3/4 of a tank. It has my cars last outing for a long time, me and a friend drove it like he stole it for a few hours and the next day I drove it to class 70km away and back. It's at 250km now and still has gas to make it to the storage place. After i'm done this semester I'm going on a work term far away, so my car may be there until spring 2005
. anyhow 250km / 34.9l = 7.16km per litre * 3.8L pre u.s gallon equals 27.2mpg.
I know i choose the wrong cam for me. it has a dead spot between 2500 to 3000 rpm (where the auto likes to shift) so if i want to move fast i gotta keep over 3500rpm, hit rev limiter (or at the point were the car sputters cause it hasn't enough air), shift and repeat. I'm guessing my cam selection increased the mpg.
to contrast my newly aquired mint 3.4L 1990 dynasty get an amazing 18mpg highway. another bad choise I made. but it's four door and i car pool.
