What thah! Is it the transmission or is it the engine?

If the car is on drive or overdrive and i suddenly step on the gas the car will make this loud single knock noise and it feels like something right underneed the ash tray and the console area jumps up and hits it and then it keeps going, This is only when i'm not moving and then step on it. If i'm moving already, it wont make that noise and it wont jump.

Is this serious? Whats wrong?

You either have a broken trans mount bushing, or a broken torque arm mount bushing- or both. They are both inexpensive and easy to replace. You can get a urethane (energy suspension) trans mount from Autozone (they have 'em in stock) for around $20.

I can show you a picture of the trans mount & Tq arm mount, but my assembly is not stock- yours won't look the same. Maybe someone else can post a picture of them

they should make these kind of things like a "site-wide" sticky or something. Or TomP should put it in his tune up

Yeah sounds like a mount.. Our 95 camaro z28 kept breaking the cheap ones. At one point we had a chain on it till we could get a nice one.

Here's a pic I have stored on the computer (disregard the "ground points") The Trans mount is the red square thing in the middle of the picture(Thats an Energy Suspension Polyurethane unit- not the stock rubber one.) My Tq arm is not stock either- that has the solid heimjoint mount to the upper left. The Tq arm thrusts upward under acceleration either wearing the rubber stock TQarm mount, or pulling the stock trans mount apart eventually from wear- thus causing things to move upward and "hit" the underneath of the car- Make sence? I hope so- I don't know how much more to explain things. If you look under your car, you will see the two stock mounts I am refering to.

actually, earlier today i went up a ramp kinda fast and i heard a noise, like the exhaust pipe hit something. I dragged for a lil bit and then stoped. Lee and I lifted the car but we didnt find anything on the pipe. Could you damage the mount if you went up a ramp kinda fast so it would hit the edge of it?

Holy crap, AGood, forget asking how much work you've already done.. we'd be here all day.. how much of your suspension/chassis is still stock?! Right down to a tubular transmission crossmember.. does it really add that much support between the frame rails and/or are you that worried about dropping your transmission and/or worried about the extra capacity of that monster torque arm warping the stock stamped unit?....

This car pulls 1.07 lateral g's on street rubber. Those braces add for lateral frame stiffness, and yes they make a noticible difference on my car(Note: at the level I corner, The frame has a noticable what I call "flex bobble" without them) The only thing stock on this car is the front control arms and k-member (PARacing's units are too weak for road racing use, they flex way more than even the stock unit) Spohn is currently developing a roadrace worthy K & a-arms thit will be out next year. Nothing else on the car is stock! I even have the Original design, limited production HMS aluminum strut mounts on this car. All heims (rod ends and insert bearings) are Aurora 3pc teflon race bearings ($$$) not the crappy stuff that comes with most aftermarket suspension parts.

Here's a pic of another custom brace I fabricated in the engine compartment- the V8 cars can't do this. This one helped most.

Edit: You can even see my custom brass 4-core radiator in the pic slightly.

you can run circles around a viper GTS-R... okay.. I'm afraid.

I'll be probing you for info once I start the handling mods on my 6... I was shooting for 1.05 Gs, so I think you're my official knowledge base

Thank you for the compliment- I am a suspension guru (expert). However, the only way to set a car is to drive it and see what its doing, then tweak it. Dale e-mailed me awhile back about springs- I had to tell him the truth, its a crap shoot to get them right. I went through 3 different styles and rates of springs years ago to get this car correct. Then everything else can be selected and set accordingly. You can get those g's out of a V8 unless on racing tires, the weight bias makes things impossible. The v8's get too much twist and flex in the firewall area of the frame/body
