eliminating AC compressor AND air pump

Car is a 92 bird with 3.1, AC, auto trans. The clutch bearing in the AC compressor is going dry, and since the system is empty anyways, i'm thinking I'll just remove the compressor (or more specifically change the belt routing to no longer include the compressor). While I'm there, I'd also like to eliminate the AIR pump. Is this possible? I've seen the tech article for re routing the belt for removeing the AIR pump, but that appears to be for V8 engines. And I'd like to remove both the AC and pump.

IF e-check aint a prob, you can always do what I did w/the 3.4 routing, hit & miss. I had a good idea on how much shorter the belt would be, but it took about 7 tries to get just the right fit.

nope, no emmisions testing here in Detroit So it is possible to remove both? I wasn't sure that the tensioner and other pulleys would be set up properly.

Test it first. On my 3.4 belt setup, it is different than any factory configuration. I made sure everything was going to rotate the correct way.
