Know anything on Turbo 4thgen motors?
i've owned 7 4th gens so far. im thinking of picking up a 00 bird with the 6 in it because they are like dirt cheap now. you think a turbo or supercharger on that 6 is better then the stock 8? please help before i blow my money...

if you look around...you can find 4th gen v6s with turbos in them on the net...i've seen one with twin turbos...if you get an 00 it should be a 3.8...which is basically a 350 with two cylinders knocked off...so a 3.8 with one turbo...decent...twin turbos...:hail: ...if you build up that engine...with forged pistons and whatnot...the engine should be able to hold quite a large amount of boost...i'd definately get the v6 and a turbo or 2...just my 2 cents though...

they never put the 3800 series supercharged engine in the fbody. only in fwd applications. impala ss, monte ss, grand prix gtp, and bonneville ssei.

On another note, the 3.8 is not a 350 with two less cylinders that would be a 4.3 which was a chevy motor. The 3.8 is a Buick motor that has been around for many years in many different variations including the one in my GTA which makes around 650hp at the crank(+/- 510 at the wheels).

well my whole plan was to buy the v6 because they are cheap, and buy an after market turbo or charger and slap it under the hood. still cost me less then a v8. just wanted to know is it worth it.

here's an earlier 4th gen... http://tiago.phxchevy.com/ ...this one i think only has a 3.4...which will be smaller than your v6...but this is about what you will be looking at...

229 ci 3.8 bowtie motor, there were thousands of them 231ci was the Buick 3.8 same era, also thousands. Reagals got Buick motors(GN's too) Monte Carlos got Buick motors and Bowtie ones. I own an original 84 Monte with a vin code that says it's a 231, but mine ended up with the 229 somehow??? I wonder how that happened on the assy line! Lol

If you do opt for the 6, take advantage of GN parts, build the internals and run nitrous. I know of quite a few V6 cars in the 12s.
