Just a few simple fixes and my 2.8 is top dog again!
I have an '87 2.8 Firebird with 82,700 original miles... I made a few simple repairs and proud of myself...
The car has had a really low idle since I bought it. With no tach guage, it's hard to tell what the idle speed is. I put two nuts on the screw that sits behind the throttle body to increase the idle speed. Now my car rolls faster from a stop, seems to get better gas mileage, won't stall, and I barely have to put my foot into the pedal to climb hills.
I did a really poor job on installing my spark plug wires a few weeks ago. They were drapped over the plenum and weaved in and out of other wires. The car ran a little rough. I was told that if I buy wire separaters and kept the wires from touching each other and other metal parts of the car, it would run a lot smoother. It took me about 20 minutes, and no more vibration at all!
My next step is the exhaust in one year old, but has a really bad leak coming from underneath the passanger door. I took off work Monday and I am going to see what I can do to fix this problem.
Keep in mind I am not a mechanic, but it's been fun learning how to do things myself.

everyone has to learn somehow.
Aslong as you dont fubar something so bad, it cost over 50-75 bux to fix, your learning a "good way".
Keep it up

Which car is this now? I've lost count
btw, you're ex-interior is holding out just fine
I might be able to come down & help out a little, but only if the garage is heated & I don't have to pull anyone out of the mud again

Hey Nate! Do you have any plans for Sunday Dec. 7th...? It'd be cool to have you down again, and bring your Firebird with you! I heat up the garage when I am working out there. I took the day of work today and worked on my car.... the heater keeps the garage pretty warm.
My next project is going to be either tomorrow or Sunday the 7th. I am going to clean the engine compartment, sand some rust and repaint the car. I'm undecided whether or not to paint it black or silver. Hit me up... C'ya
