Leaving the V6 ranks soon....

Not to say thats a bad thing, i'll still be hanging out on the boards here offering the best of my knowledge for v6 advice because man, some of the best and most helpful people are here on the v6 board.

I just bought a 95 LT1 w/ T-56 off ebay and should be expecting it to arrive next week: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2450210722

I feel it was a pretty good deal, considering the motors themselves go for $2000. THe package comes with hydraulics, bellhousing, flywheel, wiring harness /w PCM and accessories.

I have not abandoned 3.1 ALDL and it will be worked on but will need testers, it is not forgotten, I have to repay my debt to all of you for all the generous help you have all provided.

Im expecting it to be a smooth swap, the engine and tranny are covered under a 90 day warranty from the buyer and will probably pull the heads and replace the opti and all other known bad parts before it goes in.

Wish me luck, and thanks for all the help.

Congrats, I guess you'll be whoring all the LS1 swaps threads in the engine swap forum now, huh? I'm working on the VaATS/PASS-KEY bypass issue, let me know what you come up with.

Well, I bypassed the old vats system, is that going to work? I believe TexasLT1 dealt with this and got it to work ok, so he should be the man to talk to if I run into trouble, real helpful guy.

That thing is probably so easy to make it's rediculous, but since I don't have the know how ( or know what signal the pcm is expecting) i'll probably end up buying one or see if I cin score one at a junkyard

Found it. Took about 1/2 hour ( I keep all the PMs ):

Place to get the vats bypass from is called fuel injection specialties. 1-210-654-0774, call, tell them what engine and harness your dealing with, and they will hook you up. Cost is 80 plus 11 for shipping.

I bought a cheap one off ebay for like 30 bux, it fryed after about 10-15 uses. This one, I used it almost a year, more then 100 cranks, worked great. 3 wires to hook up.

Nice looking motor... Sounds healthy aside from a little bit of carbon buildup in a couple cylinders. And that isn't any big deal.

yea, thats pretty normal from a 102k mile motor, but im ripping the heads and gonna polish the cylinders up a bit, wish I had some money for a machine shop though =/. Wow, 80 for a bypass. I remember texaslt1 saying something about its one wire you have to splie into the PCM, or I miught just have someone remove it from the PCM, any takers? .

Also, you know what needs to be done about the cooling fan, will the LT1 be okay with just the v6 fan?

It might....but I wouldn't want to risk it. You can put a colder than normal t-stat in there to save the fan some trouble til you get a better one.
