Hey Everyone,
I had a few questions here. I was just givena 3.3 from a Buick Century if I want the motor. I did a little research and it seem's that the Grand am Gt and base Grand Am's used this motor as a opt for a few years and it put out 165hp with 180tq. Will this fit in my 89 Firebird(2.8 of course) If so what all parts do I need to make it fit besides the computer the harness and the mounts? It the whole motor and computer and harness is what they gave me, just wondering how much of a pain in the a** it would end up being????

Thanks

Donnie H.

All the same stuff you would need to do to put in a 3.8. Project looks like he's having some fun too.

I belive that is a fwd motor correct? If so, its going to need alot of custom fabrication.

kind of what I figured!should just get the 3.8 motor and trans I found for 400.00!
I found a great deal on a 96 3,8 with (the guys said its a 700R4 attached) to the motor, whichwould be great as my Trans has went dead at 76k.

I was thinking I read someplace in here that the 3.8 was almost next to impossible to fit into our cars tho. But I am just thinking *** 3.8 and the trans wire harness and computer for 400.00 plus shipping! hummm!

Wish I was more on the rip apart and replace than I am. Most I have ever done this far was replace head gaskets on my old 3.8 Cougar, was pretty simple for that tho.

I had a 85 Fiero Gt that a guy had put a 3.4 into and it was a totaly blast to drive(after 2 cluth's the shop wouldnt even touch the car anymore so I sold it) I guess I know why he sold me the car now, as he didnt add the better clutch and it was always a issue untill the girl I sold it to replaced it with a better one. Sure do miss that car now tho

Same amount of work as a V8 swap, 2 missing cylinders and not nearly the power increase.

Sell it and get a new transmission
