Dowards quote sounds about right. However, I always just filled tell it comes out the fill hole which is what the manual says. Never really "counted".
Tip, for me it is easier to pour the fluid in the shifter hole, then it is to try and get it in thru the fill hole.

Yup, I always fill it up so that it is level with the bottom of the fill hole like the manuals say (i.e. - Like Dale said, it will start running out of the fill hole).
Through the shifter hole? Heh, I use one of those handy dandy pumps you screw onto the fluid bottle, something like $6 or $8 at my local parts store. You can change the tranny fluid in no time with one of those.
Non World class T5 transmissions use 80-90w gear oil. World class T5 transmissions use Dexron II or III ATF. The WC use ATF because of design changes, namely the addition of some needle bearings. The gear oil won't lubricate the needle bearings in a WC very well.
Now, weither or not it would hurt to use ATF in a Non-WC, I don't know. I wouldn't think so. I've always just used 80-90w in my Non-WC and ATF in my WC. The Non-WC had 240,000 (bought at 197,000) on it when I sold the car in January of this year.

I cant say that ive went and changed it. I usually end up spilling some pulling driveshafts, dropping for clutch etc.
My brothers truck has 138k on it, and I just changed the clutch for the first time, never changed fluid, or anything.
