Car: a car being parted out
Engine: blown up
Transmission: in peices
Makes me love tghe fact that my other engine is at machine shop...
Get this over 200K on it.
Still original bore, still visible crosshatching.
Bearing surfaces are CHROME no nicks, scratches
Only .04 run on any 1 cylinder. Makes me glad the turbo on the thing took a dump some 75K miles ago...
I got the engine for a mere $500.
And yes, the turbo is rebuildable.

all machining and bearings were done at a shop. Because I was afraid this would happen If I put it together. I got it back with crank, cam and timing chain installed.

I couldn't find a blocked oil passage or any other explaination. Oil changes were done evry 3000 km

So take it back to the shop and ask them what the hell they were smoking when they assembled your motor...

Theres nothing wrong with the use of silicone on an oil oqn, most 95+ cars (every import) and light vans (fNord 3.8L) use RTV from the factory. Its an accepted practice and I do it also. Of course one thing you should tell that shop is to never use blue or red/orange silicone it suckes never fully dries most it labled non hardining sealant. Black or grey is what you should use, grey is better but all that goes out the window when its goobered on

I put the oilpan on with RTV, not the shop. I have found people who say you shouldn't use it, and some that say you should. My reasoning was that I really didn't want it to leak, it would be a pain to redo.

I'm wondering if a piece of silicon or piece of valve cover gasket blocked an oil passage.

Anyhow, today I start disassembly of V8 donor.\

V6 Parts anyone? PM me.

The only way RTV could make it past the pickup tube would be total deterioration, blue/red RTV does break down but from the picture it dident break down that much. In a recently re-built engne I doubt a peice of VC gasket could block an oil passage at 20k, usually happens on old engines when theres alot of buildup already.

Anyway, good luck with the V8 swap.
