Alright. I know this is the the transmission boards. But i don't truste them. They tend to rate things as if i have a v-8. I have a 1988 Firebird 2.8 5 speed. I am getting a whining noise out of the tranny when coming to a FAST stop. When i push the clutch down then one second later the brake, i here a whining noise while the car is running and when it comes to a stop it stops. It only does then when i come to a sudden stop and does not happen when i come to a normal stop. Any ideas? I was thinking old tranny fluid or maybe low. Anyone knwo what this car takes for tranny fluid. i have no clue I figer change tranny fluid first then go from there.

 

have several ideas but if you don't trust the trans board i can't begin to think why you'd trust me

 

There's just some problems (80%+) on these cars where the engine is irrelevant.. this is one of them. You need to learn to differentiate. You'll probably get your answer here, but it would come faster on the trans board.

'88 and older cars got the World Class T-5... WC T-5's use Dexron III ATF for gear lube due to needle bearings and some small oil passages.
