Handling mods?

Here is my list of handeling mods to do for my V6.
To start with, I have a 85 V6 camaro 5-spd.
The crate shiping weight of the V6 is 330lb (50-70lb lighter than an SBC) and the trans only weighs about 40-50lb, about half weight of an auto)
I want to be able to out handel all most all the imports (FWD's) and new domestics (solid rear axel cars).
I'll start frount to back.
First I want to take some weight out of the frount and move it around.
I want to put the battery in the back of the trunk I was going to cut out the floor pan and put it low so I can still use the trunk aera.
I also want to find a lighter than stock hood.
Add a frount after market sway bar with poly bushings.
And may be lower it with some 1-2'' frount springs drop springs with a little 1/2''-1'' spacer or so, That will have to be last if I do it because of other mods. I want the new stiff spring more than the lowering.
The struts have been dead for a while so I'll change them with some thing new.
I was also going to reinforce the strut towers and buy an eldbrock 3 way strut to fire wall brace.
I want to look into making a fire wall to cross member connector if I can.
I was going to take my plasma cutter to the frount of my car and cut out some weight and make room for inter cooler piping. And when the turbos go in I'll put them close to the fire wall, if I'm going to add 15lb of wight I an going to put it as close to the center of ballance as I can get it.
Bolt in SFC's of corse. Toss in Aluminium LT1 drive shaft.
For the rear I'll put in a after market track or pan hard bar (what ever you would like to call it)and reinforce the mount if needed, controal arms, track bar, torque arm and stuff.
The shocks are dead so they have to go.
Also I was going to lower the gas tank a few inches an old circle track trick (unlike ricers that put a fuel cell in there trunk 3 ft off the dirt and raise there center of gravity), that's one of the reasons why I don't want to lower it 2'' that and duel exhaust.
All around I want to put 17''X 8'' wheels for handeling ( it has 14's now )
For a 3rd gen 17's will increase lateral skid pad G's more than any thing else.
Now for my unique mod:
I was going to weld (custom make) a solid rear end cross brace from the left to right side of the rear (barrowed that one from a nother new car).
I have a Zexal torsen and 3.42 rear now.
I'm also going to get some rear disks breaks from an 89+ camaro.
I want to hit some of the auto cross and other imports events at my next base and show them up.
I have my web site it's all about the engine.
What do you think?
Also does any one know the frount and reat axel weight of my car?

If you're after serious handling, forget the stock spring locations, start looking into coilovers.. suspension board has tons of info.

An intercooled twin turbo setup weighs more than 15 lbs... alot more. In fact, just by going twin, you've defeated the purpose of avoiding a small block. Twin also has no advantage over single unless it's sequential twin.. and I doubt you're going through that much trouble.

The V6 is already very close to a 50/50 weight ratio, battery relocation should make up for a turbo setup. At that stage an aftermarket hood might be going too far.. get your car on a dual pad scale before considering the hood.

Bolt-in SFCs are nice.. but weld them in once they're up there. I believe it's spohn's SFCs that are also designed to be welded along the floorpan seam too.

Good luck with it.. pretty damn close to what I'm doing with mine.

The 15 is just the turbos, all the IC's and ther piping I have so far must weigh about 20-25lb's so far.
I will look into coil overs, I didn't even think of them.
I wanted bolt in sfc's because I was also going to weld them as well as bolt them in place.

Don't forget a steering brace (wonderbar) - Top-Down Solutions' (www.top-downsolutions.com) bar is nice, gotta love the 3 bolts per side instead of the standard 2.

Good luck lowering the gas tank much with the rear axle sitting underneath it. Instead get a 4th gen tank, they're plastic.

You'll definately want to weld the SFC's in.

Definately bigger sway bars, I was shocked to find out mine are 36/24 and 4th gen Z28's are 30/19, so don't look into 4th gen stuff for that.

17X8? If you'll be upgrading wheels, dont' go with anything other than 9.5's.

30/19? Wow. My '89 RS has 30/18 stock. It'll be 34/23 soon though - got 'em off an 89 TA at the wrecking yard for $25.
