Whenever I drive my Camaro, (1987 Sports Coupe, 2.8 V6) it smokes under the hood. My dad said its probably just burning oil, but this has been going on since the beginning of winter. Thes engines are known for the valve cover gaskets to leak in the rear.

One of the rubber dromits that goes in the valve cover has dry roted.

Exhaust leak in the engine bay?


Does it loose oil over an oil change?
Smell like oil?
Blueish tint to it?
ticking noise from under hood
visable leaks of anything?
Any puddling of any fluid on the ground when parked over night?

 

Most likely it is the distributor o-ring.
