After Market Tach

Hey everyone;

My tach just kicked the bucket, which means now i have a reason to get an after market one . Can you guys recommend one? Are any of you using aftermarket tachs? Mine was cool but when you hit the gas now it isn't accurate the guage jumps around a lot. Its fine when your at idle. I changed it for another one i had on another V6 it does it less but still does it. Aside from the after market tach qusetion what can be wrong with my stock tach?

check your connections under the hood. check the wires that go to the coil and there's a gray connector inline with one of the wires, that's the "filter," make sure everything is cleanly plugged in.

Would my ignition coil have anything to do with the tach needle jumping around?

Reason i ask is because my coil is shaky. I can't move the coil on my V8. but it shakes on my 3.1.

shaky as in loose? if that's what you mean, see if you can get a "C" clamp on it temporarily to see if that helps your problem.
