Ignition Control Module
In the past 2 month's I have gone through 3 ICM's. It's starting to get old for sure. Now the car is a semi basket case, It has a serious wiring dillema that is about 95% complete in repairs (had the power wire from the front dist. box wrapped and finaley grounded to the steering comumn screws somehow under the carpet) But after about 3 weeks of running, all of a sudden I will stall it 2 times and then it won't start again.
Now, I am going to give it a complete tune up. from plugs and wires to a new MSD ignition, But, Any clues as to what can be casueing the ICM to die like that, and do you think the MSD should also help cure the slight hesitation I am now getting after I just replaced the ICM again 2 days ago?

BTW, i never knew there were such devote people to the V-6 world for camaro's. I thought I was the only crazy one.

Karl (KED85) was having the exact same problem. Turns out his alternator went south, frying all the new ICMs. Have that checked out.
OH THE NIGHTMARE!
Yes I went thru 3 brand new rebuilt by Autolite (Ford's "Delco" division) alternators.
Yep, solved my problem on alternator number 3!
Really yes 6 ICM's
One even dying on my Wife as she was driving the freeway with my 3 year old Son.
No she was not happy!
Bench test alternator for 105 amps & make sure your connections are solid. Tug on the pulley (without belt hook up) to see if the bearigns are "tight".
ALSO make sure the VENT HOLE ON DISTRIBUTOR BASE is clear.
My problem was the alternator was giving off a high engery spike that shorted otu the ICM
ANY BRAND ICM DOES THE JOB OF RUNNING CAR
THERE ISN'T A BETTER ICM FOR OUR RIDES OUT THERE!
BUY THE CHEAPEST ONE YOU CAN!
I spent from $28 to $60 on ICMs (AC, Niehoff, Borg Warner, No Names!).
Right now & for last 8 months has been the $28 brand!
I feel for ya!

yeah, it's getting old as hell. Camaro had a wiring nightmare, caused fire and all types of goodness. Right now I am on my third alternator, soon to be the 4th, replace the damn alt. belt every 3 month's becasue it starts squelling and then snaps, countless ICm, luckley (SP?) got it through autozone for 29$ and is warrantied. replaced distribitor itself 2 times, 3 battery's and a starter. All within about 15 month's.
On the flip side. Car is in great shape. No rot, never an accident and straight body panels. Interior is mint shape. I just may have to rip the thing apart and think about going to a straight MSD ignition system with a carb. Probably would run better to boot. As now it has lost a good 30% of the power I had before I replaced the last ICM.
