Aluminum Drive shafts

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has installed an aluminum drive shaft on their 2.8,3.8's. If so where did you buy them from or would an aluminum drive shaft from like a 1993 or newer firebird/ camaro work? Just wondering???

If I am not mistaken the dr shafts for the v-6 was different from the v-8 cars. Correct me if I am wrong.

do believe i might be correcting you. The driveshafts should be interchangeable between the v6 and v8 rides. The vast majority of people try to find the driveshafts from the LS1 powered cars, as they're lighter than earlier 4th gen driveshafts (if they're alluminum-LT1 cars) and they're lighter than the 3rd gen versions as well, while also being easier to find.

They are interchangable. I have a 4th gen LS1 aftermarket Carbonfiber shaft- same length as the stock 3rd gens.

A lot of the fourth gen cars with v-6`s came with a two piece drive shaft..they actually put a center bearing on the torque arm..really a stupid design imo just so you know if u didn`t already

two piece driveshaft? didn't realize that one, really hadn't looked under many v6 fourthgens though. We put one in my friends 92' Ls1/T56 equipped camaro however, it was from a late model bird.

the two piece design might have been done to reduce vibrations and dampen the road impact on the car, making for a somewhat smoother ride, especially over thirdgens.
