Couple questions?

Hey, getting my car ready to put back on the road soon, but have a few questions.

1st: my clutch does work on my ac in my 2.8 firebird, I was wondering if i could just buy a shorter belt and bypass the whole unit? Is it possible or no?

2nd: My oil pressure sensor, where it goes into that tube, it works, but the clip fell off and it keeps coming out, is there any easy way to fix this little problem?

Thanks guys

I don't quite understand what clip you're talking about; the oil pressure sensor should be threaded in- was it rigged up with a clip?

But for question #1, I'm 99% sure that there IS an alternate belt routing for a non-ac car. I had a drawing somewhere in the basement that I took from a non-ac 87-up serpentine belt'd V6, but I know I'll never find it.

Thanks man

So I can run a smaller belt somehow, that will give me a couple horses right?

As far as the other thing, on the drivers side of the motor, there is a tub that goes into the motor, it is cap with a plug with wires coming off of it, not sure if that is the oil pressure switch or not, but if i pull it out, the oil pressure guage goes to 80, burries itself. Does this help any?

Thanks again TomP

What, your car don't have a belt routing sticker? That should have all the alternate routings on it (non a/c, non air pump, etc), but I am pretty sure you can just run the non a/c (but with the AIR pump, unless you removed it-they have differing lengths for differing size pullies) belt with no problems by running straight from the tensioner to the P/S pump.

The oil pressure SWITCH is the bell-shaped thing in the area with the oil pressure SENDER, which is what you apparently unplugged when the gauge shot up to 80 (the disconnected with power position), and does not have a WHITE wire but black and orange instead. Squeeze the two halves of the contact (upper and lower-the larger sides) to tighten the thing up on the switch or sender or whatever it is you're having probs with....

I know where those are, but that you have to access from under the car and its neer the oil filter. The unit i am talking baout you can feel easily from above the motor, it son the drivers, there is a tub with a plug with two wires coming out, its right near the manifold. It suppose to have a clip on it so it clips on, but thats broke, so it comes out sometimes, this help? Wish i has a digital camara
