Exhaust is a go.. new mandrel bent Y-pipe.. pix to come soon.. even better news is that with the perfectly fitting metal tubing will give us the precise angles we need to make the final product out of top shelf PVC like the prototype. now the real M-F'er (master fabricator) gets to make a bracket for support. we're definitely shooting for saturday.. G-ville is open during the day, so maybe not the best times with the heat, but hell a first run is a first run.
Yeah Charley really put a damper on progress.. (which is the opposite of congress) and as Ron White said.. "It's not THAT the wind is blowing... it's WHAT the wind is blowing.. If you get hit with a Volvo, it doesnt matter how far you got on the turbo kit that day" well.. paraphrased.

heres hoping for a tru 5x5 week..

I've been to Florida, I've gotten wet. That state doesn't live up to its name.

That's pretty appropriate considering the weather today.

But back to the topic. Did the rain let up yet Doward?

Seeing as how I dont want to swap my engine because its running very well and easy on the gas, I see no other choice for power than forced induction without the pain of swapping to another engine. $2,500-$4,000 is a very competitive price. If I had the spare money I would definately buy a kit if one existed. So I would have to say yes.

if you dont want to swap your engine b/c its easy on gas, slappin a turbo in there isnt gonna be any better, lol. unless you never use it of course.

Lol, give me a break was 5:00 am and I haven't slept. Main reason im not swaping is because I'm going to buy another car with a V8, but not now. I can't explain it but I have fun in my v6 thirdgen, yes its slow, and adding a turbo its still not going to be anything too quick, but it would be really exciting. I don't feel need to justify my reasons for wanting to do this anymore.

I want extra power in my V6 thirdgen via turbo because thats what I always wanted to do and u got to love the unique factor of it.

define "anything too quick". lol. i bet a 2.8 even, stock, with 10psi from this kit would easily get you low 14s. no, that's not just FLYING but for a 60* v6, that's quick. mild cam, a few more cubic inches, mid to high 13s wouldn't be too hard on only 10psi. add a little more boost....wow....it'll fly!

i hope everything's okay up doward's way. he lives a little ways north of me and i know we got hit with the storm but didn't really get much damage down here. i could be a few days before doward can get on, he might not have electircity. anyways, i know that he wasn't able to go to the track last week because of the weather. hopefully he'll make it soon though!

Hey! I'm still alive. Yeah, one after another of these Hurricanes. Sucks.

Ocala's mostly out of power. Had a tornado drop next to my place. I'm on a laptop in gainesville right now.

Turbo runs... went back today to get my car, drove it to Adam's place, and my Autozone Crap Starter special (that is like 6 months old, btw) decided to die. So I'm replacing that tomorrow evening. Yay.

Track is closed, to the best of my knowledge, this week. So look for times next week. This bites.

Why not buy or borrow a Gtech computer so you can do some testing??? Its been way to long and Id stop waiting for the track to open. Even the old $30-$50 Gtech can give you good or close numbers that will let you ball park a real 1/4 miles run???

You have enough invested into this. Its sound like a worth while purchase, no???

I myself am almost tired of waiting for any number, even a bad one. Just to know you ran it, even if it gives you a 15 1/4 run, will bring some relief to the long long long wait..

Glad to hear you're safe . "rain, rain, go away...." Can't wait to see what kinda times you get....I ran a few races witha guy in a turbo Civic hatch.....one of the fastest I've seen faster than a heavily modded thridgen with a 350+LT1 intake+CAM+hedders and some other stuff...he got left behing bad from a dig. I didn't even bother lining up with him....skrew that, LOL. Got to race another hatch with a B18 with cams and hedders, tuning from some place here in Houston (guy's makin 178HP 127TQ) I'm even with him through 1st, he pulls a car in second, then walks me hitting 3rd , Nitrous is going in this week I won't let THAT happen again.

WOW.

OMFG WOW.

I went to school (SFCC in Gainesville) with her today. Going down I75, turning about 3k rpm (around 80-85mph) and the boost is ADDICTIVE. About 1/2 throttle, 3-4 psi of boost, and you can FEEL this smooth, powerful rush of torque pushing you. I mean, you feel it push you back in the seat... AT ONLY 3-4 PSI! Any of you that have done top end runs, in your stock 2.8, will know exactly what I mean, when I say that it runs 60-90mph 10x faster than 90-100 mph. I CLEARED 80-115 QUICKER THAN STOCK DOES 60-90! NOT EVEN WITH THE FOOT IN THE FLOOR!!!!

It's AMAZING. WELL worth it. I will say this much, is that playing with boost a LOT will add some serious heat to your coolant. If you run hot as it is, you will want to upgrade your radiator before this upgrade.

The kits will be externally regulated, set to 6 psi.

I'm running pig rich right now, though. I'm also redoing the MAF setup, so that the car will run much smoother at part throttle. Man, listening to that turbo is something else.

Ivan's coming now.

I've got every bit of my prom burning equipment + laptop WAITING for it to stop raining. I've got to replace my CTS, and finish my relay wiring for the manual override of the fan (hence my other post, lol).

ALDL is wired up.. going to get a 2nd switch + LED so I know when the dataloggin' is going. (mebbe blink with the data, lol)

I just need 3-4 hours of solid sun.

I work tomorrow, 8a-6p... pray there's no rain tomorrow eve.

Otherwise, someone let me use their garage, so I can do this out of the rain!!!

The V is back as well.. with the longest power outage in central florida.. kinda funny how retrobution works. for those that believe in 3-fold, i guess its my fault... i accidently sent a "vortex" of fire to CA a lil while back. so my two friends (SN's of Twister and EyeOfTheStorm) sent me some fun as well...

either way.. tuning is just it now.. and its starting to clear up, even tho ivan will hit FL.. its supposed to be pretty far away that we just get rain, and aren't out of the game too much again. G-ville shouldnt be closed till november so hopefully we can get a good tune and then to the track.. sodding hell we've come thru a lot just to get crapped on with a lousy bl0wjob. but what a malestrom it is no?

Um... yeah...

New induction system in the works...

Also have learned - weld a lip to the intercooler piping, to prevent hoses from blowing off.

Need to weld in a bung for the IAT.... Debating if I should put it upstream, or downstream of the turbo, though.

I'd think after the intercooler, before it hits the throttle body, would be best... what do you guys think?

I think IAT about 6" infront of the TB.

When do we get pictures? You gonna make me drive down to the Hurricane zone and take pics of your car? Of course, I will then want a ride.

And heres something. I want a video of Doward and AM91 at the track against each other

definately after the IC.

we'll see what we can do about a video of him and I in a couple of weeks! he's going to make my car look slow though! it'll be fun and I'm serious that we probably can get a video of us, racing, at the track.

yeah most IAT's are before the maf.. but they also are in a plastic tube that goes to the tb so you want the best representation of the air that the engine is using, that way it reads truer.. before ic.. done want it reading 30 degrees hotter and without the (hopefully less than 1.5 pressure drop) now do we?
