new exhaust....

yo dudes, just thought id let you know im booked in at a company called pipecraft tonorow morning at 9 am (uk time) for an exhaust job. if theres anyone from the uk reading this they will know them, im getting the cat removed, straight up to a flowmaster then 2 pipes out finishing with slash cuts. should sound a bit better. in case you dont know in the uk we dont have to have cats unless you car was made 94 and on, so off it comes il take some befor and after shots and post em up tomorow.

exhaust update....

well iv thought about it and decided that its just to loud dag namit
and iv worked out why. the flowmaster is designed to go with a cat and by removing mine it just got a bit silly, so i asked the guy if there was anything i could do and he said he would put a little muffler in where the cat would go to try and calm it down a bit, at no extra cost so im happy about that. might ask if he can make it a slip on so i can take it out for the shows. it sounds realy good on tick over and even better when you blip the throttle a bit say up to around 2500 rpm but then it sounds crap. i had heard this on a few other posts. il get a sound clip and some pics before i change it.

get a resonater. glass pack muffler.

my exhaust resonated too, even with a cat. I figured out that a good 24" glasspack would eliminate it. I ran a 80 series on mine at cruise the damn thing nearly rings your eardrums out.

for v6sucker......

hi , im not sure what series flowmaster is in it but its got 1 inlet and 2 outlets, did you fit a glass pack? did it sort your problem ?
the guys who fitted it said they will fit another silencer where the cat was but i dont know if this will make it sound better. this is a pic of the muffler they used i think

exhaust update(with pics)

Right then, just got back from the shop and iv had a glass pack fitted where the cat used to be. its alot more quiet than it was but now it has loads more power especialy above 4000 rpm.
so now its standard headers, standard y pipe in to a glass pack resonator then 2.5 " back and over the axel in to a flowmaster then out to 2 stainless slash cuts. check the pics in the next few posts.

tail pipes sticking out,

thought id just add that over here in the good old uk we might not have to have cats but we do have to have our tail pipes sticking out to get through a test, something to do with fumes getting inside the car. i dont think it looks to bad though as they dont stick out as far as the rear bumper so no one should be catching there leg on them,

Thats because everyone runs too large of exit pipes on them. If done correctly (like mine) they sound great. I do not run 2 1/2" exit pipes or even 2" into larger tips, I run 1.75" exit pipes and flow on a 2.8l motor is pefectly addequate not to produce any restriction.
Just don't weld something on without proper calculations, then you won't sound like an ***. I have a flowmaster 80 done correctly and it has a very nice sound even at high rpms.
