Belt Help?

Ok, I went to replace my battery today and notice my belt was almost slpit in half in some places? What could have caused this? I did replace the belt right away. Also the edges were torn up. Now my hermoic balancer wobbles a little at idle, but that is it. Seems fine when reved up. Also i notice a vibration at 3-4000 rpm, i don't know if nay of this relates. Can you guys help? Thanks

if it wobbles at all, get a new one ASAP. it can cause damage to the crank and bearings. once you do that, then get a new belt and see what happens
