Will I need a new PROM for t-stat?

I read the posts on having a lower thermostat.I currently have a 180 running in my V6.Do I need to get a different PROM or something to make my fans cut on early and off respectively.I don't want to mess up the motor.

no, you don't NEED a new chip. you could go one of the routes to make the fans come on earlier if you want to but its not required.

I believe you can buy a different temperature sensor. I know that's in a post from not too long ago.
