No Spark Help!!!!
1989 GTA 5.7 TPi MSD 6AL
Went to go for a drive this morning and crank but no start! Checked for spark--no spark---....checked for codes....no codes.........replaced IGN Module with extra one I had....still no spark........checked wiring for MSD all looked good, but I completely removed it and restored the wiring back to its original state.....all fuses are good.....all wires by the coil (both white and red) all have power....still no spark someone please help me before I go insane....its probably something so simple I'm missing it completely.....all help is greatly appreciated.
PS also replaced cap and rotor.

I'mm assume (such dirty word
) that it's cranking & not starting. how's the fuel pressure? Is teh icmgetting the fulll 12v to it?
Yes this is the V6 forum,we cain help
, or it'll get moved, but
Just noticed the yr, it could also be a vats thing (but since I've never ownd a car w/it I'll s\just stop right here)

Its not Vats related becuase the VATS light turns off after the ignition is turned on.....plus I just bought a new key and lock cylinder about a year ago. I have addequette fuel pressure and the engine cranks....I checked two wires for spark with no results. All fuses are good. Anyone know what wire I could jump 12v to, to see if its a fusible link problem.(even though I highly doubt this because all wires that are supposed to have power at the moduele and coil do). So on that note I'm still lost....anyone else have any good ideas or a good scheumatic diagram of the IGN system electrical??

Trickster could probably scare you a schematic. I have the 85 factory service manusl but most likely will not be able to help you due to just the age diffs & typical GM "gotta change things around just because"

To be stupidly obvious....how's your ignition coil? Do you have a spare to swap and test? If not you can always buy an Autozone coil, keep the receipt...and if it doesnt work, you can return it. I've returned parts I tested soooo many times it's not even funny, just in the hunt to narrow down problems while spending as little money as possible.
Once I even returned an idle air valve, but before I did, I swapped the motor unit with the one from my old idle air motor...just cleaned it up and put it back in the box all connected up. There wasn't anything WRONG with my motor....it's just that, the other one was newer. And I'm poor.

I've already swapped the coil and the IGN module, Nixon, with no result. Evrything is getting power I'm just not getting spark. Fuses are good.....power is going to all wires that are supposed to have power and all wires that are supposed to have ground have it. Any ideas? I've been using the scheumatic diagrams from the TPI swappers guide.

MSD, right? Test the pickup coil - make sure it's getting a signal to the MSD box.

I removed the MSD from the system and restored the wiring back to its original state just to rule it out. I havent checked the pick up coil, I will tonight.
