Got a new motor..now what?
Found a motor at the wrecker today. From an 89 camaro 2.8. What things do I have to use off of my original motor onto this one? What do I do about the CSI on my car? Any thing difficult or tricky in removing motor from car?

where did you go for yours?

Bummed to hear that finding a 3.4 is difficult.
You do have a RWD 2.8 available, right?
Then simply pull both engines, put side by side, strip one block of your FBody engine stuff, stick it on your other 2.8 block.
Read my 2.8-3.4 Long Block Swap boogie thread and cross out 3.4 & insert 2.8.
DETAILED yet simple.
BEFORE YA BUY that 2.8, have them offer ya the cylinder pressure readings.
My used 2.8 in my 1985 Blazer with 211,600 miles on it registered 50PSI per cylinder.
My 3.4's? They registered 175/200PSI per cylinders.
Hope that's a guide.
How about buying a beat up 1993-95 Fbody & strip the 3.4, insert your used 2.8 & dump the 4th Gen Fbody on someone else!!!
NOW WHO would do that?
In end, you are duplicating/replicating exactly what is currently under your F Body hood.
OR ya can continue to seekout a 3.4 for yourself & do same effort & gain better (more powerful) results.
The pic is of the 3.4 in Firebird. Looks just like a 2.8, right?

A shortage of 3.4 blocks up here is not good news. Hopefully there will be a few more in a year or two when I get some real work done on my car.

Would a place in Michigan be of help to you all in Canada?
I've got a connection with a wrecking yard there.
Hey IF they are low milage 3.4 with warranties, take them!
New ones go for $2000 USD.
