Very Brief Encounter With First LS1!

Got off I75, onto SR 326, coming along about 40-45, when I notice a nice silver '00+ SS in the turn lane, trying to get in. Well, he sees that theres a '88 Black Thirdgen just 2 cars up. Hey, the LS1's got massive power - no Thirdgen is gonna keep him from taking top spot, right? (keep in mind, it's clear as a whistle in front of me)

He floors it. I see the front of the LS1 come up, and instinct kicks in - 3RD NOW JOHN!!!! Oh yes. 9.5 psi of boost, 3rd gear roll? Goodbye.

He slips in behind me. He won't play anymore, after the two lanes clear out, either

Fast forward about 1.5 miles. Intersection of 441/SR 326, yep, he pulls up next to me. We start talking, his first words ' What've you run on the track?'

Me - '15.0'
Him - 'Oh, I got you beat then. 13.6'
me - 'Yeah, but it's just a V6'
His eyes get kinda confused. 'That's just a V6'?
Me - 'Yep. 15.0 @ 94, and 15.4 @ 98mph - with a 3.15 60' - It's got a turbo'
Him - 'Sweet! Where'd you buy that?'
Me - 'Jump on Thirdgen.org, and look in the V6 forum - you'll see me'
Him - 'Ok man, that thing is fast from a roll - GET SOME TRACTION!' - and to prove his point, he launches on the now green light, and leaves me behind.

Victory? Defeat? Ah... I'm calling a stalemate, simply because the guy was really cool about it.

Sweet SS, too, looks nice in silver. I shoulda let him know he's got a running light out, in the front, though.

doward, i think eve customs is gonna have to do a project sixer w/ ur turbo kit up here. After you get that thing tuned out and ready to roll, you need to swing up to missouri so we can slap a paintjob, wheels, and interior on that boy and get you back to rollin. Course in a trade off, we might be able to work some deals on future kits

Hey, that's awesome. Are there going to be more of those turbo kits in the future? How's the tuning going with it?

Tuning is going good so far. WOT is FREAKING ***-LIKE (think Unreal Tournament guy saying that)

Unfortuneatly, I'm maxing the spark tables VERY SOON. Like, 1/3rd throttle = WOT spark, since it's based off LV8. BUT - I've JUST got the new def file from TunerCat, and yep, I think I've got a way around it...

It's not that I'm trying to AVOID going to the '730. I think it's more staying in the theme of the kit - like TechSmurf said, I'm doing a LOT of pioneering - these are engines and systems that nobody's really worked on. I'll be tuning ALL DAY tomorrow, and staying up late working on my idea. If it works - oh yes. OH FREAKING YES!! If it works, I'll be happy, and I'll be back on here, spouting and doing cartwheels

I had an encounter just like that too last night. Though he was going the opposite direction. [Seams every time I pass or see another 2nd.3rd.4th gen they are goin the other way]

N E Ways.

I was stopped to turn right. He was turning left. As he slowed to check out my car he blipped the throttle and spun the tires on the wet road.

All I was think was. If I had Dowards turbo.
Id turn around and show him a thing or two.

--------

Had a dream the other night that I build a cheater 50 shot NOS system. A dry 20sec hookup one that only got you one shot of juice and then it needed refilled by them whip cream charges.

wacky. I remember it well as I removed it form my moms forestor from testing.

This has probably been asked a few times, but I'm relatively new in my following of Dowards progress in his quest for turbo so excuse me for my possible redundancy. So, Doward, does you car make the awesome whooscheoos pop-off vavle sound. Not that it makes any difference as far as power goes, but I've always loved that sound.

Congrats on the Silver SS,
~Max

OMG yes. Although when I'm actually racing, I'm in and out of gear so fast, it barely has time to open.

Guys, I really think that a 75mm throttle body is going to be too big for daily usage. A throttle that big is going to let a LOT of air through per very little opening - the transition from idle to part throttle is going to be pretty abrupt, and I don't know if you'll be able to smooth it very well via the IAC routine.

I'm going to go with a 62-65 mm throttle body, and try that Stock is only 52, so a 62 would be a BIG improvement!
