Sad sad day for me

I just recently had to relocate and my Camaro was really broke down and mostly ripped apart I had no way to get it out to where I am at and no where to store it so I decited to put in the shop and do a slow "resoration" because I was unable to do it myself(because of my new job and I live 3.5 hrs away from where its parked) baisicly the guy was supposed to put everything back together and then get it running for me. Well when I had to towed to his shop we agreed that he would do some work I would send him money and then he would do more work and I would send more money (you get the Idea) Well he calls me about 2 weeks after I put the car in his shop saying he wants all of the money in 2 days or he's gonna junk it. well since I didn't have what he wanted i sent it to the j/y... Can he even do that we had an agreement. This sucks man I put so much blood sweat and tears into that car.

I wouldn't pay it all up front. You have no guarantee he will use the money right. heard it to many times. Guys get all the money and spends it. Then takes 3 years to finish the job as he has no money. or he pull the, spends your money to fix someone else's car, then spends someone else's to fix your and so on till the last guy get screwed.

Christmas is to close for that kind of BS.

Put it in a storage unit if you really want to keep it.

He broke a verbal agreement with you.

he also has no proof you said to junk it.

he probably got paid for junking it.

Id tell the police he junk your car with out permission. Also junking a car without the title signed by the owner is illegal.

You don't have to go anywhere. Just dial the phone.

pay back is a bitch.

Thats what I thought. What I'll do is call him and see where he sent it and call them and say I want my car and I never gave permission to junk it and see what the say and try to do something.. Its just I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I'm only 20 with no credit so no one will give me any type of loan or credit cards so this is gonna be hard.. I found on of thoes jobs that are hard to find in america nowadays. I work for a major grocerystore chain and work in the warehouse, its a union job and decent paying at 1st but it get alot better when I am with them longer most storage places are full because ppl putting cars, boats and RV's in for winter.. Wish me luck I am off to bed. I am gonna get up early to see what I can do.

The junk yard will call the cops on him if you don't so either way. it illegal for them to accept a car without the owners permission.

They will file just to cover their ***.

Been there. Buddy beg n beg me for a car, he was gonna fix it and pay me as he went. Got word from another guy that it ended up at the JY for $50. I showed up with the title and said I wanted my car back.

The dude almost went to jail. I didn't care. I wanted to keep the car. but he beg n beg to get it then junks it for pot money.

he should of went to jail.

He dosen't want to junk it he probley wants to sell it or he got an offer for the engine or some thing.
He is trying to screw you so he can get ahead.
He knows how far away your are. He knows it's not like you could roll by any time and see him taking the engine out and puting it on a trailer to the junk yard.

Texas state law doesn't allow the salvage (junking) of a car, without a title. I'm sure laws such as this exist where you are as well. If not, just sue him in small claims court, you'll win.

I'd be a sueing. I doubt he even repaired anything on it if you've payed him to do so, he probably just told you he was. I'd definatly do everything that's being suggested, you could end up with a good chunk of change if the car is already crushed without your permission.

I found out it's not in the junkyard. He just pushed it out of his shop and it's sitting out in the weather with no windshield. He didn't do any work to it at all. And I gotta find somewhere to put it. I got a guy to tow it for me. Wish me much luck.

Even Sader day for me.

Well I tried and tried to find somewhere to put it. I called the state police and they told me he can do what ever he wants to get it offa his property. Well I had no other choice but to junk it. Well I am Camaroless now. I stuck driving a 1981 Murcury Zephyr With a slow @$$ 2.3lt 4 popper atleast its RWD. Hopefully I can save up some cash in the next few months and get another Camaro. But everyone in my area wants some rediculous amont of money for 3rd gens. I saw a 1984 Camaro 2.8 with like 120k on it and they wanted 3500 for it. I was an 89 Z28 for 5000 and they were all stock.. I plannen on going to an auction and maybe picking one up for under a grand.

Never take a cops word on what is the law. They have no idea. They learn very little to enforce the law. Only a lawyer who spends 6 years learning, really knows the law. Most cops don't have a clue. That is what the court system is for. They write up tickets and it up to the judge and your lawyer to find the fault.

I have been browsing this for a week or two here and though I am sorry you have lost your car 87Camaroman we are not hearing the "other side of the story"

Did you have a deposit with the guy? Did you have a written, signed work order? It doesn't sound like it, or he wouldn't be having the car hauled off.

I know it sucks and you had great plans for the car- and doo doo happens, but anytime you plan a lengthy tear down and reconstruction part of the job is having a secure place to do the job.

My friend who had an auto repair business had more problems with "abandoned" cars, people who came in, got an estimate or had work done and never came back. He had limited room on his lot, he couldn't have the cars towed unless he paid up front, he had no titles so he couldn't sell the cars, taking the owner of a $500 car to court for storage fees is a waste of time, and the legal process to get a mechanic's lien is a mass of red tape. Meanwhile the city is fining him for having unregistered cars on his lot. And someone is running around saying "So-and so's auto repair is a ripoff and he's a jerk because he won't give me my car back....."

You really have to put yourself in someone else's shoes from time to time before you make a judgement.
