If i were you i would get a block from a 88 to 89 car and use that one cause it has bigger mains for better oiling and just drive the one you have until your done. Just port/polish intake and heads, headers instead of mainfolds, bore the block, etc.... Anything that you would normaly do to any engine to make it have more stomp. Anyway just do a search on this forum and you are sure to be reading for hours. By the way "Welcome to Thridgen."

Ack... shoulda went with a 3.4!

Seriously, with waht you have, I'd rebuild it as a 3.1, with ported heads, and a mild cam + pacesetter headers / dynomax catback. That would be a really nice start.

And then... BOOST.

Well for relatively cheap mod I would upgrade to 3.1 injectors ( get em cleaned by cruzin performance first ) If you want to spend money like I did buy the Accels for 173, I noticed a nice increase with those on my car, pretty good. But I also have a Chip from hypertech (5 bux at the junkyard!) and A K&N intake with a chrome 3' pipe to behind the headlight not cold air but still noticed an increase from that too. Then you can upgrade tha ingnition a little to help burn the fuel better. Doing all this will help free up some horsepower.
