starting problems
I replaced the key and passkey module on my 92 and the security light acts right now.
It still wouldn't turn over. I think I found the start enable relay over and to the right of fuse block. It has a green and yellow wire to terminals 85 & 86, and 2 violet and a light blue or gray to terminals 30 and 87. Is this the start enable relay?
In another post I read that if the hatch is open the car won't start?
Is there a dianogistic guide in the helms manual to troubleshoot the starting circuit?

OK, I'll try again. 92 v6 bird doesn't have a relay in the driverside kick panel. I did find a relay mounted above the fuse block with a green and yellow wire to terminals 85 & 86, the terminals to energize the coil. (they go into the harness at the same place as the aldl and dimmer switch wires) Terminal 30 has 2 violet wires and is hot with battery voltage. Terminal 87 has a light blue wire. Does this wire go back to the ignition switch? Does it go from ign to park/neutral to starter enable relay to starter switch terminal on the solinoid?
Does the helms for the 92's have a series of test points to check the wires of the starter circuit?
What sensor is above the starter? Knock sensor? Oil pressure? Temprature?

Those files from Trickster are nice. Found a few of my answers there.
But, what sensor is that above the starter?
The plastic conector was melted and brittle, so it broke while I removed the starter to test.
Is there a diagnostic routine to test the starter circuit?
If the color codes of the start enable relay is correct then the relay by the fuse block isn't the start enable relay. The only relay I found on the driver's side kick panel is the door lock relay.

The sensor above the starter as you call it is the fan switch. If you have a dual fan setup it would be the secondary fan switch. If you only have a single fan setup it would be the primary fan switch. The relay with the yellow and green wires by the fuse block is the starter enable relay. The yellow wires run from the ignition switch to it, the big green wire on it goes to the Park/Neutral switch on the shifter assembly. The other smaller wire goes to pin "A3" of the VATS control module. The door lock relay is a black relay with several wires going to it. Battery power goes from the ignition switch to the starter enable relay when the key is turned to the run position.

I found the starter enable relay. It was wrapped with that foam and cellophane tape to the harness. I had to pull the tape back to see it. It has the wireing colors as indicated in the helms.
So now, just out of curiosity, what's the relay that comes from the wire harness at the same place as the aldl and dimmer switch?
Trickster, is there a diagram that shows the locations of connectors where they come from the harness?
I ran those .pdf 's thru a DjVu server to shrink them 40% and it lets me keep seperate pages. Don't have to install anything but the browser's plugin.
