93 buick 3.8 v6 wont start (hope no one minds, non camaro)
Hey everyone, havent posted on these boards for a long time since I put my camaro project on hold a couple years ago..
Anyways hope no one minds but I could use some help with this. Ive only found one decent forum for this car so far (93 buick lasabre), and its broke down about 30 miles away and Im hoping I wont need to have it towed back here.
I just bought the car a couple months ago with about 180,000 miles on it. Did all the basic things to it when I picked it up, oil/filters/plugs/wires etc. Very clean, little rust and it ran, started, shifted smoothly. Stumbles a little in overdrive sometimes, but mostly just uphills if its not in its powerband and a tires out of ballance but otherwise has ran very well.
Today pulling up an onramp to the freeway the car stumbled badly with a huge loss of power, A number of cars were directly behind me so i just tapped the brakes and dropped it into drive thinking maybe it was the trany, I also only had a bit over a 1/4 tank of gass so thought maybe the pickup could of lost fuel. The car ran stable from there with the engine light on, but only at a constant throttle. As I pulled off the next exit the car stumbled again when re-accelerating, pulled off and parked it. Reved the engine a little and stumbled under no load, turned it off, started, reved and stubmled. Tried once more and the car wouldnt start. It was chugging like it was either out of gas or the fuel pump went out.
So far I know the fuel pump is definatly working, disconecting the line its definatly pumping and with good pressure. I pulled a sparkplug out after cranking it a number of times, and it was totaly dry with no fuel that i could see. Theres also no spark while cranking atleast from the one post we checked. This is the latest model car ive owned so far, so im not totaly sure how the injector/ingnition in these work. These cars also have some sort of crank sensor I think ? if thats bad would it keep the ingniton/injectors from firing ? id think cranking it would atleast fire some spark, or put fuel through the injectors, but again im not sure how this setup works.
The car broke down pretty late and we didnt have the best light but I tried finding some relays also. I didnt have much luck finding any linked to the coils or injectors and it dosent help im not very sure how the coil system works. It looked like there were just 2 ground or negative cables, one to the batterys -, and one to the fender. Then one harness with about 8 or so small wires that looked like they went back into the dash mount near the 2 fuze boxes (fuzes there and underdash all looked good btw) I was also clueless as to what the 8 square boxes under the fuzes were. I didnt see anything that the harness from the coils were linked directly into though.
With some light I might get a better idea of whats going on. Hoping someone here might have some suggestions of where to start or what could cause the problem.
Thanks for any help

Plus you didn't even mention trying to check the trouble codes after you mentioned the SES light coming on... seriously now
Non thirdgen applicable, gotta lock.
