Does a 2.8L have a map??? Code 33!

Ok after more research I see the 2.8L MPFI does not have a MAP. That leaves (according to the code chart) "low voltage at the MAF. I've done all the tests I know to test the MAF--shows good.

What's the deal?

HELP!

Low voltage for maf == low frequency. The code is set when the maf is sending under 2hz. A major vacuum leak, crack in the intake tract after the MAF, etc, can easily set this code. If all else fails, check for faulty wiring (shorts, grounds, breaks).. you can test the MAF with an oscilloscope if you have one, though I'm not sure what the stock airflow tables look like, so I can't readily convert cycles into gm/sec.

The MAF is probably bad.

Check the connector at the relay. This is where my problem was. I assume it was once covered with dielectric grease, but after 18 years enough crap had built up in the grease that it was causing a bad connection.

I know with mine you have to let the fuel pump prime up or it takes a while to crank. These are finicky motors Craig, problems can be hard to find (I should know). Oh yeah, when's the last time you changed the fuel filter?
