Another gas, timing, related ?
I did a serach, but it doesnt seem to work right now so....I just built my engine,( 2.8L ) bored it 30 over and stock cam. I set the timing at 8 for the first 500 miles. Will this cause an engine to use more gas? Also i have not got a SES light. And yes i do have a scanner. Thanks

I don't think it'd use more gas to notice; 2 degrees isn't a heck of a lot to be off. If you were overadvanced by a lot then it might cause detonation and hurt the new motor, but I think all that would happen by being 2 degrees off is that you'd have a bit less power.

So what do you think would cause this engine to use more gas than normal. Being bored out a little should not make it do this right? I am not sure.

You're right, 0.030" shouldn't cause it to use up a ton of gas... have you pulled any spark plugs to see what they look like (carbon'd up, running hot, etc)?

No i havent cause it runs real good, better than i expected. My only concern is this thing really loves to rev. It is nothing to see 5 grand in 1st and 2nd gear without realizing your doing it. Anyway this car set for like 8 years before it was brought back to life and i was wondering what sensors may cause this engine to use more gas. I know the o2 will, but it think it is fine. Any suggestions?
