I think they're 15gallon tanks and I get about 140 - 160miles per TANK not even city driving, kinda in between....cruisin at 40 mostly. Horrible gas milage.

15miles tank I'm pretty sure. I get 140 - 160 miles per TANK doin mostly 40mph cruisin more then anything. Horrible gas milage, considerable idling though...about 40mins a day worth 5 days a week.

Then i think i am getting a good one since i drive only 4 miles on a highway and the rest is a horrible traffic doing about 25mph or less. Also found out at 1AAuto is selling a fuel tank for our cars that is 14 gallons. Is their tanks smaller?

my car gets almost all city driving. Over the summer I get about 17-18'ish.

winter, letting it idle and engine never gets full operating temp. I get about 15.

My car has gotten 28 on highway, and once it claims to have gotten 31.6 I wont belive that tell it does it again.

I'm getting 17-19 mpg. Mostly short drives. It is only 8.5 miles one way to work, stores are about 10 miles away. Barely long enough for the thermostat to open once. I fill up at about 1/4 tank, takes 11-12 gallons, so it has to be a 15.5 gallon tank.

I also can't seem to keep my foot out of it.

Dale it's a Chevy! My gauge reads 1/4 when it's empty and over full when it's full. The speedo doesn't start to read until you drive a mile or two.

As far as mileage the best I have recorded is 26.5- but I am sure at 203,000 miles the injectors are not what they should be.

I'm sure if a trip was made in cooler weather without the A/C blasting, a passenger and suitcases and cruise control (that we don't have) locked at 70 we would do better.

Mine gets 17-19 city and about 25 highway. Fuel tank capacity for our cars is 14 gallons, but you can squeeze a little more than that in I imagine.

Where did you get 14 gallons from? GM service manual for '87 only lists a 15.5 (fuel injection) and a 16.2 (carb) gallon tank.

There were several diff. size tanks between years, and options. From 12 gallons up to 16.2...

This is another one of those subjects that everyone has a different answer for. There are several reasons why our cars will take different amounts of fuel.

Several different size gas tanks were used, depending on year and options.
The gas gauge is not the most accurate.
You can't get all the fuel out of the tank with the fuel pump.
Gas pumps shut off when the foam reaches the nozzle, not liquid, so you can usually squeeze .5 to 2 gallons more in

My cat was plugged. I acquired a test pipe. I average 20mpg. My best is 27 hwy. If I had my injectors redone by Rich, would I see gains in mileage, and if so why?

If your injectors are leaking because they are dirty (like mine were) then cleaning them would keep them from wasting gas. Better spray pattern = better air fuel mix= more efficient combustion.

Yes, I knocked down about 26 mpg, pre turbocharged, and with new, clean injectors.

Now I'm doing more like 22-23 mpg average.

i think that he means that he only dropped like 3-4 mpg with the cleaned injectors AND turbo! that's really not too bad!
