Datalogging the MAF cars
Anyone know what programs I can use to make it happen? Car is an 86 model lb8 maf. I have acces to everything to tune now, ALDL from Moates, as well as the burner and various software. Let me know, I just want to get a data log for now. I can get the definition files for this car, so I know it can be logged SOMEHOW.

'302 uses WinAldl, but you have to ignore the data coming through - it reads it fine, but screws up teh conversion.
I've been using the RAW output, and converting myself!

I have heard that this version will work on all of the 2.8 MPFI's as well meaning the 7302's

No, what that says is Doward uses WinALDL, and to my knowledge Doward is the only person I know of who has done anything with the 7302 (RBob might have too, but I'm still fuzzy as to what RBob even drives)

I have had WinALDL work on my 85 2.8. It does work. You just need to pick the right ecm for it. I think the readme file or something of the sort that comes with it says which file to use with which engines and years. Little slower logging than I want, but it does work.

It's listed as a '85 ECM and an '86 ECM.
The '88 (my car) uses a different datastream than either - the LV8 value is listed under MCUIO, for example.

Why can't ya just use the laptop as the cars computer??? run some virtual ecm program, adjusting on the fly as the speed of the laptop CPU. Some kind of virtual program like making a mac run windows stuff. The cars stuff thinks your laptop is the stock computer.

(this is FbodTrek) What if I have that weird 870 ecm?? Cause that's what it is... WHat chip burner/reader can i use to pull the BIN? I've looked all over, and I can't find anything but how to convert it to 730, which I won't do. How would I go about pulling a data stream, and about reading the PROM?

Someone here swapped a '870 with a '302 ecm, I believe, with no differences.
The ALDL datastream is defined differently, though.
