Distributor

Are there any after market distributors for the 60* V6 what would work on the 3.4 crate engine I am putting together with a carburettor. Mallory in there tech section someone asked them almost the same question for a 3.4 crate.they told the person the Unilite electronic distributor p/n 4569201 would be a good performance package. When I look the p/n up with summit racing the list this distributor for the 90* V6, any thoughts or am I stuck with a stock distributor for this engine I am putting together.

Thx.

If you're keeping a factory computer in there, then there's no aftermarket distributors available. Just rebuild yours with a brass cap/rotor (if you're getting a high-voltage coil) and an aftermarket spark module.

Or you can buy a new "factory replacement" distributor, but it won't be a performance one, it'll just be newer.

If you're ditching the factory computer and going with a carb, then you can use the Mallory distributor. Go to Mallory's web site and look up the part #, or just call Summit 800-230-3030 and ask them to look it up.

Tom re distributor

Thanks Tom, there will be no computer on the 3.4L, and going with a carb. Last night I found a listing for a Mallory for the engine p/n 4769201, a bit pricey but if you are going to do something do it all the way.
By the way I am in Englishtown NJ, where are you??

I am staying with the cam that comes with the 3.4, the one made by crane per. GM Performance. Now would some one educate me as to why I should put in a magneto (sp?)
