lower intake compatability 3.1/3.4
Hi
Are the lower intakes from 1991 3.1 (camaro) and 1994 3.4 (camaro) the same. I'd like to port a 3.4 lower I have while the 3.1 is still in my car so I have less down time.
thanks.

The Intake manifold (the part that bolts to the heads) is the same.
I have a 2.8 plenum on a 3.4 intake manifold. Even the 2.8 fuel injector rail lines up to the 3.4L intake manifold holes.
The plenum is totaly different you don't want to swap those around.

That's the first time I ever heard of thtaa being done.
Not doubting, just yours is first time that being mentioned.
When I swap I insert the ORIGINAL vehicle intake manifold. It's a guaranteed 100% easy match.
For your case, it really shouldn't be difficult to locate a 2.8/3.1 intake manifold for experimenting.
Personally, I swap over as is, using only a cleaning of the intake passages.
One gains from the cubic inch increase, not air flow.
Most dirt I find in intake set up is the upper top piece, It tends to get serioulsy full of crud. That top piece is worth cleaning, cause you do regain airflow. And rebuild a distributor while it's out. That's a gain right there, too. Best return is also STREET LEGAL HEADERS from PaceSetter Exhaust.
You'll be smiling for many miles after the 3.4 swap.
