Broke TPS Screw
Now what? I broke the TPS screw when I was trying to take it out. I got most of the screw out and then it snapped in the throttle body. Now what? I got the bottum one out and installed the the TPS with one screw in it. I tighten it pretty good and seems to hold fine. But not sure if it will forever. Whats the easiest way of going about this now? Thanks so much

The old way to take it out was by drilling it out...try to see if you can get one of those "new" tools where you are able to take a broken screw from a surface......they look like a screwdriver with a weird shape head....good luck!!!!

okay, i was just worried that it would not hold on me and keep loosening. But it seems okay for the time being. Whats this tool that you are talking about? I'll leave it for now. I'm actually either goign to swap the motor or sell it for $1700-1500. Which ever comes first. I really love it, but it keeps giving me problems.

may wanna use a bit of loc-tite on the one that broke off. get what you can on the threads left. that outta hold it in place, but you shouldnt have a problem anyway.

Its broken like right at the surface of the TB. I can't screw anything else in there. Right now the bottum one is the only thing that is hold it on. I was going to drill it out, but is it worth it? Thanks again

id probably try to drill it out. but easy way is to loc-tite the one thats still good and hope you never have to change it out again. its aluminum so you can easily make new threads in it. drill it, tap it, put a slightly bigger screw in it. and btw, good luck.

There is a tool avaliable at most major parts stores called a "Helicoil Kit". With this kit you are able to drill out the hole and then put a new set of steel threads into the hole. Works better then trying to retap. Kit sells for about $20 and comes in different sizes. Ive used it a couple of times ,including one of my TPS screws.

Yeah, those suckers like to snap; so if anything else, you can feel better that it's a "common" problem.
Might just be easier to get a junkyard throttle body in the meantime... "test" the TPS screws at the junkyard first
