exhaust
has anyone thried out the flowmaster or dyno max or imco exhausts from ebay the ones where all you buy is the muffler and tailpipes seems to be much cheaper than buying through summit or jegs and all you would need is the intermediate pipe from your local exhaust store.
I have a flowmaster 80 serires. I love it, but some don't like the sound. Some say it's to loud. others don't like that fact that it can get a bit raspy above 3K RPM.
I added a Catco high flow cat after having the Flowmaster installed for a year. It change the sound a bit. Sounds a litttle deeper and a little louder..
It all comes down to personal prefernces in volume and sound. My friend who has a 198* Mustang with a built twin turbo engine says my 3.1L is louder then is V8 Stang. Kinda made us both laugh a little.

I am actually debating trying something original fairly soon. I am getting ready to instal my PF&E SS headers and have to remake the section of pipe from the y-pipe to the cat (plus need a new catalytic convertor- smog laws in So. Cal).
Anyways, when I do the above I may just try and fit a 3.5" dia x 30" long into the straight I-pipe section that runs parallel with the driveshaft. Then I would ditch the rear muffler setup entirely and just route the single 2.50" pips stainght to the rear tucked up close as far out of sight as possible with one exit turndown.

This would..
1) shorten the exhaust gas path- less backpressure. gasses would not have to travel as far to exit increasing power output.
2) lighten up the heavy rear muffler assembly and reduce rear polar weight for cornering.
3) free up alot of room under there for future access to things such as rearend maitinance and gas tank removal/ fuel pump replacement.
