I've got absolutely zero experience with berlinettas... and you don't mention if you've got a normal instrument cluster or digital dash.. but normally the VSS is attached to the back of the instrument cluster. If it's digital dash, it could be in the transmission tailshaft as Project says, however that's where my zero experience would be a factor
If nothing else, start at the speedo port in the tailshaft. If there's a cable plugged in, follow it until you find the VSS. If there's wires plugged into the tailshaft, the VSS is right there.

I am sorry, I wanted to mean that I am looking for that part, I know where it is located in the car, I could not find it in any autoparts store
It is digital dash, it is mounted in the tranny.
If you guys know any big big autoparts store that could have it, please let me know.

You could probably use the VSS out of an 88 firebird too. That should be a readily available over-the-couter part.

That is damn right, Techsmurf, I was wondering if I can use an optional digital speed sensor, but my question is, Will it work as the original one? it needs to throw out 4000 pulses per mile, I think. I have asked to a guy in paceparts.com and he said that even when I install a painless kit in the tranny, I could have a hard time when setting it up to worki properly.

all the f-bod VSS throw out the 4k pulse. that's how I'm able to use the 4th gen trannies w/the '88 cluster.
I do not get it, why is the reason they made two or more different digital speed sensors if they all work alike.....

different designs for the sensors, different locations, more $$$$ to be had.
On the 98 tranny, it's now on teh pass side. good thing the connector is stilll the same.
