Trying to sell car, need help fixing some stuff

Ok, I'm getting my 87 v6 car ready for sale, but first two things should be done..

First of all, the thing hits a wall at 5000 RPM. I dont know why, and it doesnt do any of the other nasty things usually associated (afaik). Just lurches and actually acts like it is braking.

Second, when it warms up, sometimes when I come to a complete stop, the engine will stall, or almost stall. If I put the clutch in and coast, it wont do it. Only when the car reaches zero forward velocity. Then the revs will drop down to about 500.

I'd just like to get some ideas of things this could be, and ways to fix them. But only if they're minor.

Thanks.

(oh and I would have searched a bunch but I have to go to work about five minutes ago..)

Id check n make sure your tach is working right. Maybe its way off and your 5000rpm wall is the rev limiter???

As that sounds strange.

A car that stalls when you stop is most likely a vacuum leak somewhere. As the brake booster sucks all vacuum from the engine and either stalls or bogs it down.

Think the rev limiter is like 7200
