EGR Blockoff for 2.8L... reason for it
Hey I got somewhat of a "dilemma" here. When I had to hack the fuel line to get to the fuel filter, I obviously replaced it with a rubber hose. I had a fuel housing fitting that has fins on it to keep the hose from disconnecting. The hose is clamped to that nice and tight.
Yet for some reason, a small puddle of gas forms right under the housing on top of the intake. Its definitely gas, I checked (smell text with rag lol). Now..... I teflon taped the threading that was exposed (a slight amount) right at the flare nut (the small nut that goes into the housing). The big nut(housing) is completely tightened.
Now this leads me to the egr..... that massive thing is in the way of all the fuel line stuff. I'm afraid because of that partial bend in the line (I mean its not bent at an angle badly but it could be reason for leakage) is pushing the hose a bit off the lip maybe causing some dripping leaks. So what I want to do is block off the EGR by removing it and replacing a plate there to fit in. Anyone know where I can get one?

Why not fix the problem the correct way and get some fittings that work, instead of committing a federal offense and removing an emission control system?

The fittings work fine. As for the EGR I didn't know it was a "federal offense" Just lay off.
5/16th line feeds into the 3/8th fitting. Its snug in there. The EGR is in the way though and causing a headache.

Didn't mean to cause any offense. Sorry if you took it that way. I just hate to see stuff taken off a car that was put there for a reason just so it makes someone's life easy. I saw that you have a carb'd 2.8 and I don't know if you have a code for EGR, but if you remove it, you will be getting that code all the time and your light will be on forever. Then if you have another problem that sets a light, you won't know it because you are used to it being on all the time and you'll ust think it's the EGR code. You see where I'm goin' with this? Don't mean to **** you off or anything, but it MIGHT cause more problems than it's worth.
That being said, I will lay off...Sorry

Ok its cool, I kinda took you wrong the first way. I'm not intentionally trying to cause a riot or anything but it sucks whats goin on. Of all things, the way its setup it shouldn't leak a drop but yet it still does. Very annoying and gas consuming at times.
I think I'm better off getting a pic of it, to show you what I mean.
Why did chevy put the damned EGR on the same side as fuel line. Had the moron before me not rounded off the flare nut, I wouldn't have had to go through the trouble of hacking the line and replacing with rubber.

I know what you mean, I have an '83 Volvo that I just did a water pump on and there is a metal tube that comes off the side of it going to the heater core. The only thing that seals it is a rubber washer and a single 10mm bolt that holds it snug to the pump...I got it all back together, was good for 2 days, then leaked like no one's business. So I ripped it all apart, sealed it aup nice a tight again...2 days later, leak. I finally went down to GM, bought someof thier "ginger tabs," crushed them up and put them in the system. they did exactly what they are supposed to do, stopped the leak.
Anyway, i think the engineer that designed had just gotton news that they were gonna be going fuel injected, so his setup was just a temporary thing, so he said "F.U. GM, let's see how you like this..." Then he quit. Seems like that on a lot of cars. LOL
