Speedo or VSS?
So I had this really strong buring smell come from the speedometer today and then it stoped working. Called my step dad he said it could be the vehicle speed sensor. What do you guys think? I took it all apart and didn't see any burnt wires, melted crap or anything out of the norm. Any clues? Oh yeah the speedometer is stuck at 45mph.

I see you are in Miami, there is a place in Ft. Lauderdale off of SR84 called Lauderdale Speedometer, they can bench test your cluster for you for a $35 charge. They are really nice to deal with- the speedo in my wife's '91 wont start to read until you drive a few miles, then it springs to life. No VSS codes. It benched fine, and I know now to look elsewhere for the problem.
You should go under the car, and on the driver's side rear of the transmission there will be a plug with wires going to it. This is the vehicle speed sensor- make sure it is plugged in before you take the dash out- follow the wire up and make sure it isn't broken or anything or melted against the exhaust or anything. If that's all ok, you may want to try a new speed sensor.
However, since you smelled burning stuff......it could be the dash panel. Lauderdale Speedo says they do burn out circuit boards on occasion.
